Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
