Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents said the 45 charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
