Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
