LA Battles Record-Breaking High Temperatures Just Days Following Major Winter Storm.
After enduring significant rainfall that caused flooding across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now confronting unseasonably high conditions for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
During the day Friday, the temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in central LA, per data from weather officials. This easily surpasses the old record for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was established in the previous year.
"Very warm conditions" were noted on forecast graphics for the region.
Safety Advisories
Authorities cautioned that Friday's heat posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their advice featured:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Never leaving anyone unattended in a hot car.
A Sharp Shift
This dramatic increase in heat follows closely after a massive winter storm that struck the area last week. That event delivered heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to higher elevations, causing mudslide risks for millions residents.

Forecast Ahead
The outlook suggests a cooldown is expected. The heat were predicted to fall to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by late Friday.
Several cities that reached 90°F included Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Meanwhile, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were projected to reach the upper eighties.
For the weekend, central Los Angeles can anticipate weather in the 80s, with cooler weather expected for the start of March.
