The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The single features a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”
The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
